Teriyaki Sauce

Recipe from Erin at The Wooden Skillet accompanied by a few additions from me.

Teriyaki Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 Tsp sesame oil
  • 4 Tbs brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 Tsp honey
  • 2 Tsp garlic, minced
  • 1/2 – 1 Tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • Slurry: 2 Tbs cornstarch + 1/4 cup cold water

What to do with them...

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together water, sesame oil, brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, garlic and ginger.
  2. Whisk together slurry in a small bowl; set aside.
  3. Bring ingredients in saucepan to a simmer.
  4. Add slurry to saucepan; whisk to combine.
  5. Whisk slowly but continuously while bringing sauce to a simmer.
  6. After a few minutes of simmering, sauce will start to thicken.
  7. Remove when it reaches your desired thickness – remember it will thicken more as it cools slightly.
  8. Use immediately or refrigerate for later use
